About Dr. Alston

Shyron Alston, ND, is a naturopathic physician & Nutritionist at Be Balanced Naturopathic Care in Norwalk, Connecticut. 

Dr. Alston earned her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and Master of Science in human nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. She firmly believes that every individual deserves optimal health to the level their body permits and that proper nutrition is a fundamental necessity for achieving and maintaining optimal health. She is dedicated to helping her patients achieve their health goals and involves them in the treatment process as much as possible.

After earning her bachelor’s degree, Dr. Alston pursued graduate studies at Yale University in the highly competitive Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP), where she also worked as a research assistant in the Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. During her time in the Department of Psychiatry, she became fascinated with animal model studies that focused on behavior. This led her to seek opportunities to work with individuals with developmental deficits and maladaptive behavior. She has implemented principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) as a behavior therapist in home, residential, and school settings for many years. She is particularly interested in how food influences behavior in this population. Her goal is to support and enhance behavioral, developmental, and social outcomes utilizing a combination of therapies. Dr. Alston’s experiences give her a unique perspective with regard to treatment approaches for the special needs population.

Dr. Alston has been a guest speaker on The Natural House Call, an alternative health radio show broadcasted on WPKN 89.5 FM, and The Practically Healthy Life Show, an alternative health audio podcast. She is available for consulting and lectures per request.
